The owners passion for timber and locally sourced materials is evident from the moment you walk in the door. Two wall lights, made from black heart sassafras, provide a nice ambiance as you enter the house. A celery top landing leads you around the corner to a beautiful blackwood staircase built locally by Kilpatrick’s Joinery. At the top of the stairs celery top pine leads you into a generous kitchen/dining area featuring stone bench tops and top of the line appliances. Beyond the dining room there is yet more Tasmanian sourced timber with Tas Oak being used for the TV room and enclosed alfresco area.
The love of timber doesn’t stop there, with a number of furniture items being constructed from huon pine and black heart sassafras; namely a large huon pine coffee table in the center of the lounge room. The light colour of the timber contrasts strongly against the black of the wood heater and the dark fabric of the furniture.
